Belong to the Wild

My Story

Welcome to Cool Wilderness. The purpose of CoolWilderness.com is to spread my love of all things camping and hiking with experts, enthusiasts and beginners alike.

Having been born in the Lake District, UK, I have been brought up camping and hiking. In fact, I climbed my first mountain aged 5 years old and I have been hooked ever since (you can read about my favourite mountains). In the years since I have climbed and camped all around the world. I have taken part in endurance challenges and gained mountaineering qualifications. Most notably, I have undertaken high altitude survival training and winter hiking survival training.

My journey to setting up this website started in 2017 when I went online to buy a tent. I read a few reviews and settled on my choice. Unbeknown to me the person reviewing the tent cannot have ever been camping never mind seen the tent the were recommending. Needless to say, the tent was a bust.

Then, in summer 2019 I decided to give this another go. Again the result was not good.

It was at that point I decided that those who were willing to enter the wild deserved to be informed by someone who did more than just search for the best selling product on a marketplace before pitching it to people to make a quick buck.

As a result of this I decided to set up coolwilderness.com. This website is a hobby of mine where I can share my stories, tips and product recommendations to those who are looking for honest and well-researched advice. If you are reading this it is likely you are also looking for help. I can assure you that my experience has shaped my belief that all advice given on this site be honest, straight to the point and easily digestible.

At this point, for transparency, I want to point out that as an Amazon associate and I earn from qualifying purchases.

I hope you find what you are looking for on this site.
